  • I had one that looked like it when I was a kid. It was boring to clean up after as we didn't have a dishwasher. The ice cream was great. My 2021 recipe is vanilla extract to your taste, sugar to your taste. Pasteurized egg yoks whisked stiff and whipped cream. Turn together, put in small cups and freez. Take out after 6-7 hours and you have the best ice cream.. It's yummy.

  • I was laughing in a couple of parts. Great video...crappy machine and WORSE recipe. Try it with the basic Ben & Jerry's vanilla recipe and see how it works. No cooking of ingredients. That's nuts. In a large bowl, whisk 1 egg well. Add 3/4 cup sugar and whisk well. Whisk in 2 cups of heavy cream and 1 cup of milk, and 2 TBL (or a little more, I like more) vanilla extract. Once combined, you are DONE and ready for your ice cream machine. Then see how it works. It probably will.

  • Is the machine really necessary? NO. Just say it, NO! Not sure why hesitate. I rather pay 5 bucks, let's be honest. Good review though, thanks.

  • Try doing ice cream just in your freezer. You'll get a weird milky slush. The ice cream machine keeps large ice crystals from forming during a key period of freezing. Modern machines with compressors are a little easier, but not by much, and all of the others aren't. I don't think they're worth having unless you're someone who wants to make their own ice cream. As someone who enjoys that, however, I love mine.

  • Lol, they had a better, more practical way of making ice cream even in the 1800s. I can see why they stopped making this device, so many easier ways to make ice creams.

    Jane DoeJane Doeپیش 5 ماه
  • The point was not an easier food recipe. It was being able to make homemade ice cream without the hassle of a traditional ice cream mixer. That was mess and time. You took the prepped food then put it in the ice cream maker canister then put the paddle in the canister. The canister went in the mixers bucket. You poured bagged ice around the canister the you covered the lided canister with more ice and poured a salt on top of the ice. This was the kind of salt you used to melt ice off your driveway. You then put the motor on top of the bucket/canister and either plugged it in or turned the crank. This was messy so you did it outside. As the ice melted you had to top it off with fresh ice and salt. After quite some time (30mins to hour) you checked it. If done you transferred to a container and freezer. Then cleaned all the mess. Now after hearing all this dont you think the bronco one was easier. However, making homemade ice cream the old way was a family project and a treat on special get togethers, a favorite memory from my childhood.

  • I usually enjoy your reviews but...you're very whiny in this one. You missed the point- in the early 70's video games weren't as common, weekend TV meant reruns and most other things weren't 'in the budget' (Disneyland, water parks, etc.) we made 'fun' at home. Creating (making) food was 'fun' with a reward at the end and it always tasted better. I don't know what the price of ice cream was in '74 but I bet this was cheaper. No, people didn't make a special trip to buy ingredients ("Oh this is taking so much time." whine) You get the machine and wait for for next grocery visit to buy materials. This was meant to be involved besides being just the way it was at that time, it was meant to be family project, "So much to do" whine. You're doing it all wrong- get some kids and make an afternoon of it. And stop whining! Still like ya tho.

You just added your ingredients and added ice and salt to the outside bucket. Turned it on and came back 45 min later and it was done. Tasted good if I remember correctly. Took about an hour for a gallon of ice cream.

  • The reason you needed the icecream maker is because of crystalization, if u dont mix it, there is a high chance of crystalization. I enjoyed the video, but i think he is focusing too much on how long it took, when most of the time is spend was automatic, and that he could spend it on something else.
